Six weeks to go!

OK, we are now starting to get a little bit excited - there's just six weeks to go til The Co-operative Cambridge Folk Festival opens its doors...er, OK, opens its gates for what promises to be another great year.

We are interested to know (a) what you think the highlight will be this year and (b) if you've been to any of the previous 44 years, what your personal favourite moment has been to date - why not let us know by replying/commeting on this blog.

It's a tough old year for Festivals at the moment but we are delighted to say that we have now sold approximately 97% of all available tickets for the event. There are still a few weekend tickets left, and the odd sat / Sun ticket available but they will certainly be all gone in the next few weeks so if you haven't already got a ticket or know friends that want them the advice is to get in quick.

So, 6 weeks to go...we're gonna start counting in the office now. Here goes...1, 2, 3, 4, 5...oh HURRRRRRRY UUUUUUPPPPPP!!!

Tickets go on sale

Tickets went on sale at 9am on Sunday 17 May.
The website registered over 50,000 people trying to get tickets via the website at exactly the same time - in addition a queue of people had grown over night for the over the counter tickets.

We stand up and give a 'folk salute' to the people at the front of the queue who had queued over night braving some pretty awful Cambridge May weather - we'll see you at the Festival.

Did you know...

Peatbog Faeries who were at last year's Folk Festival and (who incidentally sold the most CD's on the Festival stall) are going to be in Cambridge again this year but at a different festival...

Heart Of The World Festival, a month long city wide celebration of culture and music from around the world, will be in Cambridge in May with an array of events (many of which are FREE) including Live Music, Workshops, Talks, Club Nights, Exhibitions, Theatre, Performances and Film.

Alongside the Peatbog Faeries, there are other acts including Warsaw Village Band, Jackie Leven, Baka Beyond, Yann Tiersen and much more.
