Nervous as she was to begin with, Lucinda Williams still rocked stage 1. With her style, which is crossed between folk, blues and country, it still had a rock edge with her deep and soulful sounding voice.

The list of performers who have appeared reads like a who’s who and the Festival has been a launching pad for many now well known artists.

Nervous she may have been, but superbly supported by a rockin' 4-piece band. Highlight of the weekend for me, and a great Sunday, having been wowed by Imelda May minutes earlier.
You must be joking. If she did not want to be there - don't like cameras, don't like barriers, a six week tour to much for the little dear -, she should not have bothered turning up and the money used on someone who wanted to play. She was not nervous, just downright ignorant.
A tad unfair! She was definitely a bit fazed by it all...six weeks into a tour or not..!! Great band though and a genuinely good gig..not my personal highlight...that goes to Martin Simpson with that great band he put together for the Stage 1 gig on Sat, closely followed by Jon Boden and the Remnant Kings set on Sat and to add to the joy Jon was brilliant as part of Martin's crew for his gig!
Cambridge for me gives opportunities to hear artists I am not familiar with. I had heard of Lucinda Williams, but not heard her music. Mostly it sounded like typical overblown American rock music, complete with petulant singer and posing guitarist. It baffles me why people still go wild for this sort of cliched rubbish, especially when there was so much fresh and vibrant music at the festival.
I love lucinda williams and was really looking forward to this. However have to say that I was really disappointed. She didn't seem very keen on being there, and think her set list was pretty poor. All very competent in terms of musicianship, but not terribly exciting and didn't add anything over and above listening to one of her cds.
I'd never heard Lucinda Williams before and really enjoyed her set. JT - I'd suggest that if an act isn't floating your boat, you could always go and watch someone else or do something else - the beauty of a festival...
Of course - and I did just that several times over the weekend. And there were acts I didn't know who I did enjoy, as well as acts who I was disappointed by. But by Sunday night I was suffering festival fatigue, and couldn't be bothered moving round any more!
Enjoyed the music - they were good songs she played. But her attitude stunk - she needs to remember whose dosh pays her bills!
I thought she was fantastic, rocking and truly fab. saw her a few nights before which I also enjoyed - although she seemed happier then - and this performance at cambridge was musically just as good. Could have been longer from my point of view. can't wait to see her again.
The band were fantastic and too good for their lead singer - obviously slurring and petulant. Was she on anything? Sounded like it! Though to be fair, she did improve a bit after 4 songs. She was a big let-down, especially after the mesmerising Cara Dillon and Imelda May - no contest!
Terrible, terrible attitude- at one point during her initial hissy fit, we thought she was going to walk off.
I had high expectations of Lucinda Williams but she was disappointing. Her initial fit of pique I could forgive but after a resaonable start she really killed the audience with some slow, depressing dirges played loud and without subtlety. Glad it wasn't raining otherwise it would have been even more depressing and the Samaritans could have been swamped.
